Another benefit of double sided stud bolts is their reliability
Clean all dirt and oil from the housing, and set the new seal in place with its open (spring) side towards the engine.

Oil seals come cataloged as metric oil seals or imperial sized oil seals. The seals can also be custom-made to match the bearings in new types of machinery. They are installed in practically every type of machine including vehicles, protecting all kinds of precision, precisely-fitted ball bearings, sleeve bearings, and roller bearings.
Highly resistant to both high and low temperatures Silicone Oil Seals - Designed to absorb lubricants in order to lessen wear and friction, silicone rotary shafts also offer high thermal resistance and a large temperature range. But, they do not handle abrasions well or interact with oxidized oils.
Fluid side face The front-end face of the seal is called the nose. The nose is made of rubber and forms a gasket seal when compressed on the housing shoulder.

The primary function of an oil seal is to create a barrier between the rotating or moving parts of a machine and prevent oil or other fluids from leaking out. This helps to ensure that the machinery operates smoothly and efficiently without any loss of lubrication or contamination of the surrounding environment. In addition to preventing leakage, oil seals also help to retain lubricant within the system, extending the life of the equipment.
In addition to providing a reliable seal, the 40mm rubber gasket also helps to dampen vibrations and reduce noise, improving the overall performance and longevity of the equipment. Its durable construction ensures long-term reliability and minimizes the need for frequent maintenance or replacement.
Double metal cased
There may be a rubber '0' ring oil seal round the base of the distributor, or a paper gasket under the plate of the securing clamp. Remove either seal, clean away all dirt and oil, and fit the new one.
If this is not possible, you may be able to fit the lower retaining bolt into the upper mounting support, to hold the engine level. Or the gearbox may have to be jacked up and supported.

INTEGRATED OIL SEALS
Many seals come with a garter spring, found within the backside of the seal. It provides contracting pressure against the sealing surface. Making sure the spring seats correctly within the seal is an excellent first step.

After the oil seal has been installed, check for leaks. You can do this by applying pressure to the system and observing for any signs of a leak, such as fluid escaping from the area where the oil seal is installed. If a leak is present, you may need to remove the oil seal and start the installation process again.
